International Design Exposition - Toronto

PictureTel cameras allowed for a permanent connection to Hull, Quebec where Technology and Environment specialists were on hand to answer questions from attendees while in the booth. Additionally, AXIS network cameras provided live streaming video to a web site dedicated to information on PWGSC at IIDEX.

Shown here being assembled, the booth fused sustainable materials and energy efficient technology. Wheat board was utilized for the panels along with beech flooring material and standard piping. After the show these materials were all recycled for other projects.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT:
The design places emphasis on the use of environmentally friendly materials, on modularity, moveability, re-useability and flexibility of all architectural components and their method of assembly. Promoting a sustainable approach to design allows the reconfiguration of all architectural components to respond to different spatial context and effectively convey the progress of key Government initiatives.

WIRED AND CONNECTED:
Incorporating leading edge technologies into design elements, the booth becomes a live interactive information space allowing for real-time information and document sharing while defying conventional space and distance parameters.

SUPPORTIVE WORK ENVIRONMENTS:
Placing emphasis on moveable architectural design elements which incorporate light and graphics, allowing visitors of the space to interact with and modify the space and its elements, demonstrating how design can provide opportunities for individual to affect their immediate work environment.
